Ajax devices communicate with the hub using proprietary secure radio technologies, while the hub can use Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and cellular communication depending on the model and configuration. A Wi-Fi-only camera or DIY sensor usually depends much more heavily on the router, local network, cloud connection, and internet service.
