Can security cameras replace door and window sensors?

Usually, no: cameras and opening sensors detect different events. Video analytics detect activity within a camera's view, while an opening sensor detects movement of the protected door or window away from its closed position. Camera angle, obstructions, lighting, and detection settings can affect what video identifies. Door and window sensors remain useful for defined entry points and for rooms where indoor cameras are inappropriate for privacy.
